The most expensive mistake in infrastructure work is the one that only appears after the job is finished. A sewer line laid at the wrong level, or a water pipe on an inadequate bed, becomes apparent only when the asphalt above it is broken out. That is why the real work in infrastructure is the checks carried out before the trench is closed.
Scope
- Potable water transmission and distribution lines: laying in ductile iron, HDPE and PVC pipe; valves, hydrants and service connections.
- Sewerage collectors: laying true to the design gradient, precast reinforced concrete manhole construction, coupling and gasket installation.
- Storm water drainage: gully and grating lines, outfall structures, surface water management.
- Pumping stations: reinforced concrete works for the pump chamber, coordination of mechanical and electrical installation.
- Road crossings: casing pipe application where the route must be crossed without closing the road to traffic.
Before the trench is closed
Before a line is covered we carry out level checks, leak (pressure) testing and, where required, CCTV inspection of the line. Trench backfill is compacted layer by layer so that no settlement appears in the road pavement above. On handover, as-built drawings are supplied to the client authority in full — so that the location of the line is still known years later.
